The best way to sell tickets for a small event online

Having lots of trouble with eventelephant.com. I thought it would be the easiest way to sell tickets for my event but had all sorts of problems, and found the functionality actually pretty basic.
Main issues
1) the site keeps freezing, taking up to 10 minutes to load my event dashboard
2) Really limited how much you can edit the site pages, so the site ends up looking really basic
3) am furious to find out, that eventelephant keep all the money taken for the event until UP TO 8 DAYS after the event has happened before it shows up in your account
4) the only thing I did like about it, is that the payment system looks professional. But if you want to see any of the money immediately you either have to set up your account details with your paypal account (where you will lose another commission on top of that which event elephant charge of 4.75%) or you need a merchant banking ID. I don't think any of this is clear from their site, and if I had known it, I wouldn't have used them. Presumabley I should have just set my event up for free on Linked In, then paid Paypal's comission. Oh well.
