Just read a story from Techcentral  about Google urging Irish Small Businesses to go online - it is obvious that this needs to happen and happen quickly .
It is also getting cheaper, faster and easier to establish an online presence - tools like wordpress.org, drupalgardens and others allow you to quickly create a simple site for your service or product
Buying and registering an URL or web address is very straight forward through any hosting company
Pointing your URL or Domain name at your wordpress or drupalgardens site is cheap - less than 20 dollars ..
Using Google Apps to host your e-mail is free if you area small business ..
Setting up a twitter account, linkedin account and facebook account are all free - all of which will drive traffic to your business or service for very very little outlay ..
If it works and you want to do more then invest more .. but get online cheaply first get an understanding for what you actually need .. 'understand the problem' and the invest intelligently..
